What happened

Headspace's sale to Sword Health was reported at $200-300 million against a $3 billion valuation in 2021 — roughly a 90% markdown on the category's most recognisable consumer name, against ~$320 million raised. This thread tracks the gap between digital-therapeutic adoption and anyone paying for it, and Headspace was the strongest available counterexample. A price at this level makes it an instance of the paradox instead: consumer reach at scale, and an exit that values the reach at a fraction of the capital that built it.
