What happened

The Verge reported, citing The Guardian, that an xAI subsidiary is offering to buy homes in a Southaven, Mississippi neighborhood as long as residents do not join a lawsuit targeting its nearby data center and power plant, and that a realtor told one resident xAI plans to buy 418 homes, with 18 homeowners already planning to sell — a letter quoted by the Mississippi Free Press says sellers to the subsidiary, MZX, would sign a release of claims related to the Southaven plant, including those in the Haley action. The Verge reported that SpaceXAI recently reported it faces up to $6.1 million in potential civil penalties for environmental law violations, along with more than $220 million in claims of unpaid bills for work performed at its Memphis and Southaven sites — The Verge also notes the NAACP's suit over dozens of unpermitted methane gas turbines in Southaven, where a federal judge blocked the Trump administration's attempt to dismiss the suit earlier in October. A rating describes an outlet's general record, never this particular article. Unrated means absent from those datasets — not a judgement.
